Is Our Mission Statement

The Remei is in full support of Aikido World Headquarters, Hombu Dojo and the lineage of the Aikido Doshu.

The Remei membership is for Dojos and Clubs which are active as well as independently and legally operate within the State, County & Municipality of which they function. The Dojo or Club must not be a Member of any other organization that holds recognition with Aikido World Headquarters Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan.

The Remei requires, along with adherence to member regulations, that all Dojos, Clubs and Instructors abide by the below.

Aikido is the sole creation of the Founder Ueshiba Morihei O’Sensei.

Aikido developed as a pure form of Budo (Martial Way). Drawing upon aspects of many ancient Japanese disciplines, Aikido is a highly refined Martial Art that strengthens the individual practitioner in Mind, Body and Spirit. O’Sensei believed Aikido to be not only a way to effect positive control of violent encounters, but also a path for the development of the whole self, a true Budo.

The present Aikido Doshu (Leader of the Way of Aikido) is Ueshiba Moriteru, the grandson of the Founder and son of the Second Doshu, Ueshiba Kisshomaru. The Aikido Doshu heads the Aikido World Headquarters, Hombu Dojo, and the Aikikai Foundation, Tokyo Japan. The efforts and direction of the Doshu(s) and Hombu have made it possible for Aikido to be taught worldwide.
